For the past few months my Lumia 640 (running WP10) has had a bunch of issues that made it tough to use as my daily driver.
Increasing available swap file size to 768mb has fixed the worst of these issues.
Issues Fixed
- General share screen failures (attaching photos to MMS was my big one, sharing photos to email, sending URLs to Poki…etc)
- App Switching (number of apps in cache, apps reloading when switched to, basically trying to run ANYthing else at the same time as Outlook)
- Doing almost anything from the lock screen is quicker (Camera launching, enabling mobile hotspot)
Instructions (for L640, others may vary)
- Install Interop Tools (see XDA link in credits – I sideloaded it, store version may work)
- Choose “This Device” as provider (NOT “…through provider extensions”)
- Unlock -> Interop Unlock -> Restore NDTKSvc -> ON
- Reboot device
- Launch Interop Tools
- Registry Browser -> Browse to “HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PagingFiles”
- Change from “256 256” to “256 768” (or whatever amount of available space you’re comfortable sacrificing)
- Reboot device
